 OKC Overview
OhKentuckiana Kennel Club, an affiliate club of the Continental Kennel Club, is a non-profit organization designed to bring together individuals, families and their canine companions with others having similar interests. OKC's main goal is to provide individuals and families a fun way to spend time with their canine companion(s) through events, workshops, training sessions, fun events as well as sanctioned events. Membership in the OKC is open to any individual or family, as well as their faithful companion(s) providing all rules and regulations are followed. All canine companion(s) are welcome regardless of breed, sex, size or whether he/she has been neutered or spayed. In some events, mixed breeds will be able compete.
OKC also promotes responsible dog ownership and will offer seminars on raising puppies, micro chipping, and canine first aid as well as training demonstrations. OKC will work closely with local animal shelters by encouraging adoptions and having pets spayed or neutered. Local animal shelters and humane societies will also be invited to set up informational booths at all events.
Regular club meetings will consist of discussing club business as well as training sessions. Obedience Workshops will be utilized as membership drives as well as fund raisers for advertisement and promotional needs. Sponsorships will be sought in order to provide training equipment, insurance, ribbons and trophies. Fun Events will be scheduled periodically as practice for sanctioned events as well as another means to promote the club. Sanctioned events will be held 3-4 times each year.
OKC members will receive discounted entries to CKC events hosted by OhKentuckiana Kennel Club. Members will have free admittance to Obedience Workshops. OKC members will also receive a discount for services provided by Thunder Vallies Animal House and Thunder Vallies Kennel and Farm.
Meetings will be held the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month at 6pm, the fourth Saturday of each month at 1pm and Tuesdays according to the calendar specifically to focus on our Junior members. Dues will be $15.00 for a junior handler, $30.00 for adults, or $50.00 for a family membership. Dues will be paid annually.
